Every search engine optimization company will tell you that they have there own custom built tools that assist in providing top ranking results in the search engines. SEOFox is no different in this aspect. We all have found tools on the Internet that just don’t end up cutting it for our clients needs.

Regardless of what company you utilize for all your Internet marketing needs, there is still a basis that ALL SEO companies utilize when doing research and tracking rankings. Overture Keyword Selector Tool

Probably one of the most widely used keyword research tools on the Internet today. This tool allows for someone to type in a specific keyword term and get the number of searches performed on that term over the last 30 days.

Note: This tool only covers the Yahoo Network. This is not an ACTUAL for the entire Internet. However, in this writer’s opinion, it is the most accurate tool.

This is another keyword tool that is commonly used in determining valuable keywords. This tool has a free and paid version that can be utilized.

This tool is nice in that it gives pages, competition and ratio as well as the count. It also allows you to search and save wanted keywords.

Each of the three largest search engine’s have unique services. I’ll point out three services that are HIGHLY suggested for additional marketing success. Be aware that each search engine has other great services that you will want to do some research on. The three samples I am providing are simply a few of the more popular and upcoming services that will further expand our use of the Internet to market products and services.

Google Base

Base is Googles attempt at a classifieds system. You can list every single product or service that your company has to offer through Google Base. This is rather new for Google but we are already seeing results where Google is utilizing this new database.

For example, type in San Diego real estate into the search box and you may see a drop down menu or two within the results of the search.

While this system is yet to be completely used to what its full potential is, you won’t want to leave this out of your marketing plans. Every searcher out there that comes across this in Google is going to try and use it because it is different and not expected. Your company will be sure to find a client base from Google Base. This is a pretty decent site to pick up a client or two occasionally. There is a lot of content and some lack of organization but because it is free and purposefully created for nothing but classifieds, it drives a lot of traffic and for companies advertising on CraigsList.com that equates out to a lot of potential business.

Depending on the type of service or product you have to offer, you will find Yahoo Classifieds to also be a reliable source of advertising.

Yahoo Directory

Back in time when technology wasn’t as advanced as it is now, many search engines relied on two primary directories because they were hand evaluated. Search engine creators believed that human edited directories were harder to cheat and therefore could be deemed a trusted source when determining what a site should be ranking for.

To be listed in the Directory, you will need to be prepared to spend $299.00 per year. Also, be prepared to submit to this directory EARLY. Depending on your industry, it could take several months before an editor gets to your site.

This is the second most popular directory that you don’t want to neglect listing your site in. Search engines also looked at this site to determine the relevancy of any given sites rankings within the engines index.

This site is free but because of its popularity, you may find that it take even longer than submitting to Yahoo Directory. Get submitted today by visiting http://dmoz.org/add.html

Microsoft AdCenter

If you’re new to the Pay Per Click (PPC) concept then why not try a PPC program that is also new to the market as well. Because AdCenter is still new and not heavily explored by everyone at this time, getting an early jump with this service may get you a few extra affordable leads that you may not have received using Google Adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing (YSM).

For more traffic generated through PPC programs you will want to consider Google Adwords. Because Google has the largest user-base, it can bring in quiet a bit of leads through sponsored advertising via PPC.

Yahoo PPC is another fine method of marketing. Many people find that Yahoo’s PPC program is easier to set up than Adwords or AdCenter; this may be the direction you will want to take if you’re looking for simplicity.
